Inta is a qualified teacher specialising in gifted education with more than 25 years experience teaching primary age students.  She has coordinated the development and delivery of very successful, nationally acknowledged, award winning gifted education programs. In 2007 Inta was the state finalist of NEITA teacher of the year award. Her particular passions in teaching are Literacy (she is also a Teacher-Librarian) and Mathematics for gifted children.

 

Joel  has completed a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Mathematics and Physics, and received first class Honours in Mathematics. He then completed his PhD in Physics at the University of Queensland, developing models of photosynthesis and vision. Joel runs the University of Queensland's Physics Demo Troupe, a group of presenters traveling around Australia. When visiting dozens of schools and thousands of students, their science shows and workshops have been very well received. Joel was awarded the ATSE Young Science Ambassador award in 2004, and has received grants from the Australian Academy of Technological Science and Engineering and the Australian Institute of Physics.

 

Rebecca has completed a Bachelor in Science and a Bachelor in Education, and has nine years of teaching experience in public and private schools. She is currently a secondary teacher in Brisbane. Her involvement and role in Science Teachers Association Queensland, Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers and Queensland Association for Gifted and Talented Children, as well as her vast experience in presenting hands on workshops has made Rebecca a dynamic and highly reputable educator.

 

Eleanor has a Bachelor of Music at the University of Queensland, and is an experienced music teacher, both in schools and privately, including work with Australian and Overseas based artists. She received specialised training in voice, violin, guitar and jazz.. Eleanor is also a talented songwriter with an EP to be released later this year. Her work with choirs, such as Brisbane Chamber Choir, So-la Voce, Imogen Chorale, Young Conservatorium Choir and Melbourne Girls Choir is also very successful.

Susanne has a Bachelor of Education, a Bachelor of Music (Honours) and a Masters in Gifted Education. She is an experienced teacher at the primary and secondary level. She is currently a Gifted and Talented Coordinator at a Brisbane school, while also completing her PhD. Susanne is the author of numerous academic articles, mainly on a topic she is passionate about, which is, problem based learning in integrated subject domains.


Michael has a Bachelor of Education and will be completing his Bachelor of Architecture next year. Michael is a creative and innovative teacher, with extensive experience at the primary school level in State and Private schools, including Senior Teacher at the Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre.


Sherri has a Bachelor of Engineering, and has majored in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Involved in teaching at the tertiary level, she is also in the process of completing her PhD in Chemical Engineering. For the past two years Sherri has been developing and presenting a number of outreach programs in schools, and a number of very successful enrichment programs for BRAINways EDUCATION.

Sally is a creative teacher who connects with and inspires young audiences. She completed her PhD in Creative Writing, and is currently university lecturer in Writing and Publishing. Sally is widely published in Australia. Her stories have featured in the Best Australian Stories.

Jan has a Bachelor and a PhD in Biochemistry, and has spent ten years as a research scientist. For five years she has been a consultant at the Queensland Science Centre and an enrichment aide at a Queensland State School. For the past four years, she has been involved in developing and presenting CSIRO hands-on interactive science programs.

Anna is a scientist with a dual degree Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science, and has majored in Chemical and Biological Engineering and Genetics. For the past two years she has been involved in the Scientist in Residence program, aimed at promoting science within primary schools, and helping teachers develop effective science lessons.

Janet is a creative and innovative teacher and an award winning poet. Janet has taught Creative Writing, English, Drama and History in Australia and overseas. Her teaching activities include writing, revising and implementing curricula for gifted and talented students. Janet's Creative Writing and History students have been recipients of awards at local and state competitions. Her published poetry work has received numerous awards. Janet is currently completing her research for a Masters in Education, with a focus on creativity.

Max is the multiple winner of a number of prestigious Playwright's Awards. Max's work has been published in Australian and local anthologies. As an Australian delegate at the International Festival Of Young Writers, Max facilitated many workshops for young audiences.

 

 
Neroli has completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Award winning, her work was purchased and exhibited by art galleries and private collectors. Fascinated by their most extraordinary creative energies and by their freedom of expression, Neroli is enjoying her work with children, as a workshop and tours facilitator, and children’s activity supervisor at the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art.
 

Mirella is a qualified medical doctor. She has a Masters of Health Sciences (Deakin University - Melbourne), and is currently studying towards receiving her PhD (LaTrobe University – Melbourne). Mirella has also completed Health Education and Communication training and became involved in teaching at the primary and tertiary levels, with specific focus on gifted education.

 

Julian and Christi are lecturers in philosophy at University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology. They are the authors of numerous academic articles, mainly in ethics and justice. Julian completed his PhD at Monash University, and then was a Fulbright fellow at Princeton University. Christi received her PhD from the University of Arizona. Their research and teaching interests include moral and political philosophy, applied ethics, metaphysics, logic and critical reasoning, business and professional ethics, bioethics, and environmental ethics. They have three wonderful daughters aged between 3-9 years.

 

Alwyn is the holder of the Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching. He was recognised for his leadership in advancing science education, through his hands on approach to primary teaching, and through his work beyond the classroom. Alwyn’s work includes participation in Science Week activities at the University of Southern Queensland, and projects, such as Questacon Hands On Minds On, Starlab, etc. Alwyn also guided, as a regional science coordinator, the implementation of a new science syllabus, while supporting the professional development of science teachers through his leadership roles in the Queensland Science Teachers Association.

 

Brooke is an artist that inspires through creativity and enthusiasm. The completion of her Bachelor of Contemporary Arts (Theatre) at the University of Tasmania marked for Brooke the start of a very prolific artistic career in acting, directing and playwriting. In Launceston, Brooke has co-ordinated the PCYC Youth Theatre, with over 100 students aged 5-17, has taught drama and performance technique, has directed and produced major annual artistic events. Brooke has facilitated and presented children's workshops at the Queensland State Library in South Bank.

Sue is a dedicated educator with over 25 years international and local experience. After completing an initial teaching degree, Sue completed eight years of special education training, and ran a multi-aged class with students with various learning dissabilities. Her passion for gifted and talented education resulted in further studies and a Master in Education (Gifted Education). Sue has facilitated and taught in specialist programs for Gifted and Talented K-8 students.

Angela has completed a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) at the University of Stuttgart, Germany. During her studies she has also attended University of Melbourne and Robert Gordon University, in Scotland, and has consequently been exposed to many architectural styles and techniques. She has worked in local and international Architectural offices, and has taught a number of University subjects in Architecture. Apart from teaching, Angela is currently completing her PhD with research on appropriate school building design for Australian children.

Harry has taught Maths and Science for nine years at a Private College with an excellent academic reputation in South East Queensland. He also holds the position of Head of Maths and Science and Senior Biology Coordinator. Harry is passionate about hands on, minds on science, and about instilling thinking skills in every aspect of school work. Harry has planned and taught integrated inquiry units in the Middle and Junior School. He is currently completing his PhD in Science Education, with his research focusing ont engaging middle years students in the new sciences.

Rachael has taught in both primary, secondary and tertiary music classrooms for over five years. She holds a Bachelor of Music, a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Music Studies, and is in the process of completing her PhD in Music Education. Rachael is active in the music community, performing in community choirs, editing a Music Educators Newsletter, and teaching music.

Kay has 25 years of teaching experience from prschool to adult education, in both private and public sector. She has taught internationally, and has auhored a number of educational books. Kay completed her Certificate of Gifted Education, and studied towards completing her Masters of Gifted Education. Kay is currently a gifted and talented coordinator in an independent primary school.

Paul completed a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. He completed a Masters of Biologcal Engineering and is in the process of completing his PhD with the Austalian Institute of Biotechnology and Nanoparticles at the University of Queensland. He is currently the course coordinator for a Nanomaterials Engineering subject. For the past six years Paul has been involved in research on Nanoparticles which was published and prsented at conferences.
